Florida Securities Fraud

The sale of securities in Florida is regulated by the Florida Department of Banking and Finance. Florida securities fraud can result in civil fines of up to $50,000, as well as criminal penalties. Under Florida law, securities must be registered with the Florida Department of Banking and Finance, and, with a few exceptions, they also must be registered with the Securities and Exchange Commission. There are some circumstances under which the sale of certain securities are exempt from Florida securities laws. In order to register securities in Florida, you must fill out an application with the Florida Department of Banking and Finance, and provided any requested supporting documentation. There is a nonrefundable $1,000 application fee in order to register securities. Additionally, securities brokers and/or dealers members of the National Association of Securities Dealers must apply to be licensed in the state of Florida, and must pay certain annual fees for these licensing privileges.
